Developing Knowledge of Supply Chain Resilience in Less-Developed Countries in the Pandemic Age

Background: The constraints imposed by the pandemic COVID-19 increased risks of disruption supply chains, bringing new challenges to companies. These effects were felt more intensely in less-developed countries, which are highly dependent on imports products and raw materials. This study aims assess impact chain resilience a country (Guinea-Bissau) using complex adaptive system theory. Methods: We used qualitative methodology through multiple case studies. Semi-structured interviews conducted with four semi-structured script contains questions about disruptions, vulnerabilities resilience. Results: main results show that companies Guinea-Bissau, due their dependence outside world absence formal, larger diversified suffered serious consequences pandemic. It was also concluded resilient chain, fewer impacts crisis events at this level depends obtaining competitive advantages over competitors. Conclusions: practical implications need formalize diversify services exterior, adopt metrics allow for early detection situations disruption, effectively manage stocks promote proactive resolution strategies. Studies chains crises scarce, especially located underdeveloped countries.
